Chasing down titles at the Burlington Invitational

 

 

Anchoring the record-setting 4-by-800-meter girls relay team, Champlain Valley’s Autumn Eastman didn’t know how much she had left in the tank. South Burlington’s Malcolm Plunkett, after missing all of last outdoor season with injuries, tried not to set the bar too high.

Unsure of what would unfold, both runners came away with impressive performances in premier events at Saturday’s 41st edition of the Burlington Invitational high school track and field meet.

Just minutes after Eastman ran down the pack in the final stretch to claim the girls 1,500, Plunkett zoomed to a meet-record time in the boys race.
