MileSplit RI heading to Doyle five-miler on Aug. 9

MileSplit RI will be down in Narragansett, R.I., on Sunday, Aug. 9 for the eighth annual Bobby Doyle Summer Classic at 9 a.m. This popular five-mile event, which also includes a new 3K walk, is part of the USATF-NE Grand Prix series, attracting some of the best athletes throughout the region to the starting line at Narragansett PIer School.

Just like we did back on July 4 with the historic Arnold Mills Road Race in Cumberland, we'll film the race from start to finish with commentary from Steve Mazzone of MileSplit RI and the BAA's James Dandeneau, a former Cumberland High all-stater and top-class runner. Co-race director Jim Doyle is expecting a record field for this year's race with some fierce competition on the scenic, ocean-side course, Is there any better reason for us to be there taking care of all the action (with photos, too!!!)?

*** The entry fee for the Doyle Classic is $27 until Aug. 7 and $32 on race day. For high-schoolers, the cost is just $20 prior to Aug. 7 and $25 on race day. Don't forget, all high schools with 15 or more of their runners (boys and girls combined) in the five-mile race are entered in a raffle to win a $1,000 for their teams.
