Virginia Tech Freshman David Eisenhauer Charged With Abduction, First-Degree Murder

A freshman on the Virginia Tech cross country team has been charged with the abduction and murder of a 13-year-old girl.

Blacksburg, VA police arrested 18-year-old David Eisenhauer on Saturday morning in relation to the disappearance of Nicole Lovell, and later charged him with first-degree murder upon the discovery of the girl's remains later in the day. Lovell had been missing since last Wednesday.

According to Roanoke.com, the police did not confirm whether or not Eisenhauer was the lone suspect. They also did not provide information about how Eisenhauer and Lovell came in contact with each other.

"This investigation is far from over. The focus of the investigation is now to reconstruct a timeline leading up to Nicole's tragic death," Blacksburg Police Chief Anthony Wilson said.

Eisenhauer is being held without bond.

In a statement on the school's website, Virginia Tech announced that Eisenhauer has been placed on immediate interim suspension.

Eisenhauer was a freshman on the Hokie cross country team this past fall. As a prep in Columbia, Maryland, Eisenhauer was an all-state athlete in cross country and track.
