South Kingstown's Ellie Lawler is among 17 entries that will be competing in the seeded heat of this event. She will be surrounded by some of the nation's best, a few that are capable of challenging the meet record of 15:55.75, set last year by Brie Oakley. Lawler is three-time state champion and a Foot Locker All American for this distance on the cross-country trails. It's a distance that appears to be her forte. Our guess is she'll be looking to run similar to what she did at the outdoor nationals in 2016 when she clocked a solid 17:40.
