Dozen Girls To Watch At 2018 MPSSAA State Championships

Tylar Colbert (Franklin)

Part of the Franklin's big three alongside Nyjari McNeil and Cameron Hinton, Tylar Colbert is one of the state's best in the 300 meter hurdles dating back to winning the 3A state title in the event as a sophomore two years ago while at Digital Harbor.

Colbert has the fastest time this season among all public school athletes in Maryland and 3rd fastest overall at 43.15. She has gone undefeated in the 300 hurdles this season including victories at the Baltimore County Championships and 3A North Regional. Last summer, Colbert won the AAU Junior Olympic Games in the 400 meter hurdles (1:00.19).

Colbert also excels in the 100 meter dash (11.89) and 200 meter dash (24.44) as a county and regional champ in both events, which ranks her second and first fastest in 3A heading into the state meet. Colbert will be contention for state titles in all 3 individual events and also likely on Franklin's MD #2 ranked 4x400 meter relay.
