  • Jen Esposito (Mansfield) set a new meet record of 42.82 in the 300m hurdles.  Her very aggressive start set the tone for the race and was enough to hold off Alex Stanton of Medfield who finished second in 42.90.  Esposito and Stanton both ran under the 1985 meet record of 43.00 set by Pam Connell of Norwell.  Laurie Femmel of Natick and Amanda Foote of North Andover also made the top 10.

  • Joel Hubbard of Marshfield ran a gutsy race in the 1600m, pushing Bobby Allen of West Cranston (RI) and Jeff LaCoste of Bishop Guertin (NH) to their limits.  Hubbard would finish 3rd in 4:14.52.
  • Brockton finished second in the girls 4x100m in 49.41.  They now have the two fastest times in the state.
  • Andover had a little trouble in the final exchange of the boys 4x100m but their speed was too much for the rest of the field.  They almost missed the exchange zone but still won in 43.26.  Boston College High finished 5th (43.84), Walpole finished 6th (44.11), and New Bedford finished 8th (44.22).
  • Nathan Pierre-Louis (Waltham), Andre Rolim (Somerville), and Brian Sommers (Acton-Boxborough) all posted sub 50 second times in the 400m.  Pierre-Louis finished 4th in 49.41; followed by Rolim (49.81) and Sommers (49.91).
  • Rebecca Robinson of Arlington gave the second fastest 400m runner in the country all she could handle.  Robinson made a big push at the 200m mark to close on Precious Holmes of Hillhouse (CT) but ran out of real estate and finished second in 56.41.  Mia Toffoli of Northampton and Hulerie McGuffie of Lynn Classical also made the podium; finishing 4th (57.31) and 6th (57.64) respectively.
  • Chris Pullerits of Acton-Boxborough just missed the win by .04 to D'Mahl McFadden of Merrimack Valley (NH).  Pullerits would finish second in 38.75 and was followed by Peter Farlow of Needham in 4th (38.90).
  • Laura Williamson of Wachusett ran a MA#3 time of 2:12.89 to finish third in the 800m. Courtney Neves of New Bedford finished 7th (2:16.79) and Lauren Hagen of Franklin was 9th (2:17.30).
  • Mike Tiger of Old Rochester mad a big push at 600m to close on the leaders in the 800m but would end-up finishing 10th in 1:56.98.  Billy Looney of Bishop Feehan finished just ahead of Tiger in 1:56.78.
  • Selena Yates is the New England Champion in the 200m.  She won the event in 25.09 and was followed by Eve Bishop (Andover), Julia Mehlman (N. Andover) and Liz Bodensieck (Bridgewater) in 7th, 8th, and 9th respectively.

  • Catarina Rocha, Camille Blackman, Katie Carlson, Abby Hurd, and Julie Solimine all broke 11 minutes in the 3200m.  Rocha  and Blackman will remain at MA#1 and MA#4 respectively after their 10:41.27 and 10:52.92 clockings.
  • For the second week in a row, Chris Allen of King Philip ran a sub 9:10 equivalent 2 mile.  This time he won the 3200m in 9:05.97; a time that converts 9:09.14 for 2 miles.
  • A Massachusetts team didn't win the girls 4x400m, but they monopolized the podium.  Northampton finished 2nd in 3:56.84; they were followed by Andover in 3rd (3:58.22), Wellesley in 4th (3:58.41), and Ipswich in 6th (3:58.73).
  • Acton-Boxborough finished third in the 4x400m with a MA#2 time of 3:21.06.  They were followed by Marshfield in 4th at 3:24.95.
  • Erin Silva of Westborough remains MA#1 in the pole vault but improves her mark to 11'3" (4th place).
  • Brendan Sullivan of Westford Academy had another day over 15 feet in the pole vault.  He would end the competition tied with Mike Slovenski of Brunswick (ME) at 15'3" but would end-up in second place based on misses.
  • After two consecutive fouls to start the shot put competition, Tresley Dupont (Durfee) showed his poise and competitive drive.  He launched a throw of 54'10.75" to finish in second.  Sean Enos of St. John's Prep finished 3rd at 53'3".
  • Kelin Alves started-off strong in the javelin competition.  His first throw was his best at 171'00" , and he finished in 4th.
  • Moira Cronin of Andover showed that she truly understands the mental game of being a high jumper.  Cronin was called to the track for the 4x400m relay after 2 misses at 5'9".  Instead of leaving the high jump area, she decided it was better to take her third attempt  prior to her race.  Although it was rushed, she cleared 5'9" fairly easily and left Ronea Saunders, the only other remaining competitor, to ponder the situation and take three consecutive attempts at 5'11".  Saunders would clear the height and Cronin returned only to pass on her remaining attempts.  She won the event based on misses and the conservative approach was probably a wise decision given the waterlogged condition of the track.  Also finishing on the podium was Kristen McDonagh of Mansfield finished 5th at 5'5".
  • Courtney Williams of New Bedford continues her dominance in the shot put. She opened the competition with a 42'7.5" bomb and kept the pressure on the rest of the field.  Cherraine Davis of Southington (CT) would make a comeback, but her mark of 42'6.25 was not enough to overtake Williams for the win.
  • Brian Sullivan of Hingham finished third with a MA#2 mark of 162'6" in the discus.
