Outdoor Season Begins Douglas McDaniel Mar 11, 2007

Concord University opened their 2007 Outdoor track season in sunny Myrtle Beach at the Coastal Carolina University Invitational while on Spring break. They will be at Coastal Carolina again next weekend for the Shamrock Invitational. Coach Cox said, "Next week our team may be a little tired after having a hard week of training."

Levi Grandt and Amber Riley Lead WV Runners at Footlocker Douglas McDaniel Nov 26, 2006

Running in the Footlocker Seeded race, Levi Grandt, a junior, from Doddridge County placed 35th overall in 15:44 on the 5K McAlpine Course in Charlotte, N.C. Grandt bettered his time from last year\'s trip by 19 seconds. Amber Riley, a senior, from University High finished as the top West Virginia runner placing 48th in the Seeded race with a time of 18:39. Brooks finishes 2nd at Furman Invitational Douglas McDaniel Oct 16, 2006

Marian Brooks, a senior, from Marshall University and a graduate of Pikeview High School out of Princeton, WV finished 2nd at the 34th annual Furman University Cross Country Invitational held on the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville SC. Brooks covered the 5K course in 18:36 and finished behind Sarah Coghlan of the University of North Florida. The ladies finished 10th overall. Concord Men Claim Greensboro Invitational Trophy Douglas McDaniel Oct 01, 2006

Greensboro, NC -- The Concord Mountain Lions are peaking at the right time as they won the coveted wooden 1st place trophy of the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational held at Hagan Stone Park by team effort over St. Andrews Presbyterian College Knights of Laurinburg NC. St. Andrews placed three runners ahead of Concord University of Athens, WV, but the Concord depth was too much too overcome. The knights placed runners in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 12th, and 42nd spots. However, the talented Mountain Lion squad placed 5 runners in the top 15 and had 7 runners in the top 23 places. Randy Horner finished in 7th (27:33.6) followed by Chris Herron in 8th (27:38.3), Chris Snell in 13th (27:47.7), Ryan Kent in 14th (27:48.90), and Scott Grose in 15th (27:52.6).

D & E has strong showing at Saint Vincent Invitational Douglas McDaniel Sep 26, 2006

Latrobe, PA-- Davis and Elkins College is not quite ready to concede the WVIAC conference race to West Virginia Wesleyan College or Concord University. D & E finished a solid 2nd in the field of 13 teams at the Saint Vincent Invitational held at Latrobe, PA on the campus of Saint Vincent College. Joel Turley led the team with a 4th place finish in 28:39. Other senators scoring for D & E were Matt Bright finishing 9th in 29:09, Lance Hines 10th in 29:14, Kevin Thurston 13th in 29:31 and Jim Adams 26th place in 30:12.

Concord University Men Display Ultimate Team Unity Douglas McDaniel Sep 17, 2006

The Concord Mountain Lions put on an awesome display of teamwork and unity as eight runners crossed the line within a span of .10 seconds and claimed the top 10 spots for a perfect score of 15 points. Andrew Benford Selected To 2006 World Mountain Running Team Douglas McDaniel Aug 14, 2006

University of Richmond incoming freshman, Andrew Benford (Ravenswood, WV) has been selected to represent the United States Junior team at the 2006 World Mountain Running Championships to be held in Bursa, Turkey on September 10th. He was contacted Friday, August 11 by Dave Dunham, the USA Junior Team manager and told he is one of 4 men that will represent the USA Junior Team (under 20 years of age) at the 22nd Annual World Mountain Championships

Competing at the Nike Outdoor Nationals is an honor for any track and field athlete. West Virginia was represented by four outstanding athletes with national credentials. Even though the athletes may be disappointed in their performances, we are all proud of them for their contributions to track and field and know this experience will make them better competitors and individuals.

State Meet Results and elite performances have been added. Jasmine Cotten of Fayettville re-writes the record book by large margins in the 100m, 400m, and long jump.. Several others broke State Meet records including Kaylyn Christopher. After checking all of the results a complete write-up will come this afternoon. (All write-ups are completed.)

Conference USA and High School Regional Meets Added Douglas McDaniel May 13, 2006

Siketha Shepherd-Hall leads Marshall University with her 2nd place finish and school record in the long jump by jumping 20-03.00.

Complete results for the Conference USA Meet have been added with elite performances for Marshall University. Also, all of the High School regional meets and elite performances have been added. I want to especially thank www.runwv.com for most of the results. Thanks to the ones who have e-mailed me results.
